HDMI规范授权机构HDMI LicLLC于2012年7月官方公布了HDMI 1.4的技术特性。

 HDMI 1.4增强功能简介（HDMI 1.4 enhancements Profile:）：

    1、HDMI以太网通道(HDMI Ethernet Channel，HEC)

    HDMI 1.4版数据线将增加一条数据通道，支持高速双向通讯。支持该功能的互连设备能够通过百兆以太网发送和接收数据，可满足任何基于IP的应用。HDMI 1.4 data line will add a data channel to support high-speed bi-directional communication. Interconnect devices that support this feature through the Fast Ethernet send and receive data, which can meet any IP-based application.

    HDMI以太网通道将允许基于互联网的HDMI设备和其它HDMI设备共享互联网接入，无需另接一条以太网线。新功能还将提供一个连接平台，允许HDMI设备之间共享内容。HDMI Ethernet Channel will allow Internet-based HDMI devices and other HDMI devices to share Internet access without the other then an Ethernet cable. The new feature will also provide a platform for a connection that allows HDMI devices to share content between.

    2、音频回授通道(Audio Return Channel，ARC)

    该通道可减少音频向上传送并处理和播放所需要的线缆数量。在高清电视直接接收音频和视频内容的情况下，这个新通道能让高清电视通过HDMI线把音频直接传送到A/V功放接收机上，无需另外一条线缆。This channel can be reduced audio upward transmission and processing and the number of cables required by the player. In the case of high-definition television directly receiving audio and video content, this new channel to allow high-definition television via HDMI cable audio sent directly to the A / V amplifier receiver, do not need another one cable.

    3、3D Over HDMI

    新规范将为HDMI设备定义通用3D格式和分辨率，实现家庭3D系统输入输出部分的标准化，最高支持两条1080p分辨率的视频流。The new specification for HDMI devices defined universal 3D format and resolution, part of the standardization of the home 3D system input and output, and supports up to two 1080p resolution video streams.

    4、支持4K×2K分辨率（Support 4K × 2K resolution）

    HDMI设备支持的高清分辨率将达到4K×2K，四倍于目前的1080p，能够和众多数字家庭影院以同样的分辨率传输内容。HDMI devices to support high-definition resolution will be reached 4K × 2K, four times the current 1080p, and many digital home theater at the same resolution transmission content.
