A report issued by Decision Tree Consulting (DTC) showed that projector shipments into the Middle East in the third quarter stood at 38,527, a decrease of about 24 percent when compared to 50,615 units in the third quarter of 2007, Gulf News reported.
The report said BenQ Middle East overtook Epson to top the list during the third quarter of 2008, with 6,166 units and with a market share of 16 percent, followed by Epson with 5,393 units and a 14 percent share and Toshiba with 3,552 units and a 9.21 percent market share.
The UAE and Saudi Arabia were the fastest growing markets in the region during the period. Total shipments into the UAE stood at 14,058, an increase of 13.12 percent compared to 12,427 in the third quarter of 2007.
In Saudi Arabia, total shipments fell 6.85 percent to 12,752 units in the third quarter of 2008 compared to 13,689 in the third quarter of 2007.
BenQ was the leader in Saudi Arabia with 1,883 units and with 14.77 percent market share, closely followed by NEC with 1,831 units and with 14.36 percent market share and Optoma with 1,677 units and with 13.15 market share.
BenQ also stands at number one in the worldwide DLP projector market as per current DTC rankings. KeyWord: projector |
